Structural set-up in Switzerland
In this final section of module 6, we’ll be taking a look at how Switzerland has set up their systems to ensure e-Waste management is properly processed, utilising the “take-back” system.
Switzerlands Structural Set-up
- One Conformity Assessment Body for each PRO
- Both Conformity Assessment Bodies are independent third-party institutions
- SENS Conformity Assessment Body: composed by consultants from multiple companies (private)
- SWICO Conformity Assessment Body:
- Previously: scientists and engineers from Empa (public)
- Now: Consultants (ex empa) from one company (private)
- Close cooperation between the Conformity Assessment Bodies for mutual benefit is assured by a Joint Technical Commission
- The Joint Technical Commission is formed by the Auditors from the two Conformity Assessment Bodies and one representative of each PRO
